Application Profiles (or "App Profiles") provide a "project" concept, and are part of hierarchy of the zCenter service portal enabling you to decouple the management, ZTNA access policies, and Application Chamber settings of different applications from one another.
Within the zCenter service portal, the following objects and controls are scoped by Application Profile:
- Applications and Services
- Access Policies (Access Policy Management > Access Policies)
- Chamber Policy Objects (Chamber Policy Management > Chamber Policy Objects)
- Chamber Policy settings (Chamber Policy Management > Application Chambering)
When on an application-scoped page, the Application Profile selector in the top menu bar will show you what Application Profile is currently selected ("ERP Application"):
The following objects and controls are globally-scoped within your tenant:
- Users and User Roles
- Manage Servers (Onboarding and Management > Manage Servers)
- Application Process Objects, Address Objects, and Service Port Objects
When on a globally-scoped page, the Application Profile selector in the top menu bar will be grayed out to indicate the scope:
When your zCenter service portal is created, a demo Application Profile called "Demo App Profile" is automatically instantiated for you as an example. If you do not intend to use this App Profile, you may delete it. |
About App Profiles and the CoIP Overlay
Each App Profile's CoIP Overlay addressing space is decoupled from the others. This means that you can create multiple app profiles, each with the same overlay addressing (e.g. 172.24.0.0/24). Although this may be desirable for some use cases (e.g. each App Profile is a clone of a "golden" App Profile), ZTNA users will need to select which App Profile to connect to, to avoid conflicts.
Creating App Profiles
To create a new App Profile, you must not be on a page that is globally-scoped. Click on the App Profile selector, and select the option "Add Application Profile". This brings up the following screen:
Enter the new App Profile name, and, if desired, a description, then click 'Save'. A new empty App Profile will be created for you.
